Free Gaming Live CD/DVD/USB

Traveling aimlessly across the vast oceans of the internet I came across a rather interesting concept. A Live DVD/CD/USB based on Arch Linux for gaming, available here. After looking at the list of games I immediately downloaded the live DVD, much to my surprise everything worked out-of-the-box (sound, network and video drivers (nvidia’s in my case, ati’s drivers are also included) and the performance was superb. Nexuiz was running flawlessly at +80fps on High with my GeForce 8600GT. Most of the games have multiplayer mode and are not very resource intensive, meaning you can still have plenty of fun using old or limited hardware.
The project live.linuX-gamers.net was founded with the idea to present Linux games at the LinuxTag exhibition in a novel way. A collection of games should be shown to directly run from DVD without the user in need to know about Linux or care about his system. After some intense brainstorming sessions the team decided to create and publish this DVD as a live distribution project. Thus an additional and very difficult problem had to be solved: The DVD should run on every x86 PC out there. – Source
