It may seem that Microsoft is scared of losing even more market share to Firefox and Chrome. They have resorted to blatant lies; and dirt trowing at the competition. A good product should be able to stand on it’s own, just like a good politician should talk about his plans, achievements and ideals for making life better instead of spending all his time and effort attacking and criticizing his competitors.

However it’s good to know Microsoft has some new ads that talk about the ‘awesomeness’ of it’s web browsing application, look at them and share your thoughts! I’ll share my favorite MS ad so far first, it’s about Internet Explorer’s InPrivate Browsing or as we like to call it porn mode:

A picture says a thousend words. Well, this one says three, What the Fuck?

It looks like Microsoft Outlook 2010 (torrent/mirror) is going to use the old, non-standared following, HTML render engine that Internet Explorer used and now Word uses! (dont we all love it?) Apparently MS is using this old engine to stay consistant and not suffer any performance loss, here a quote from an Outlook Product Manager Dev:

“I am aware of where this decision on our part places Outlook from a standards perspective – at the same time, we ask that you consider the benefits Outlook users get from having Word tools in their e-mail authoring experience. [...] Having multiple HTML engines could reduce performance, as well as create an inconsistency in terms of what type of content the user is able to create vs. consume.” – Source

I’m not sure he has a point, they should just fix their damn engine if they’re so worried about performance lost and inconsistency. I hope the campain against this change works, remember it’s still a beta! If it dosent, I just hope people start using alternatives like Thunderbird, Kontact, Mutt, Evolution or any other mail client whose developers actually care about displaying web pages correctly by following certain standards.
