Rx Bandits are a rock/ska/reggae/groove tech/progressive (I dislike genres and having to place music into them, especially when music is as unique as this) band from Seal Beach, California. Don’t be fooled, they are not your typical Cali band though. Their first album, Those Damn Bandits was released under the name The Pharmaceutical Bandits in 1997, before shortening it to Rx Bandits. This album was real true ska.

They have progressed their style a lot since then and each album has a slightly progressed style form the last. Their new album, Mandala (to be released on July 28th) is the first since …And The Battle Begun was released in 2006. (In my personal opinion, that last album was their best and I don’t know if this new one will top it).

Two songs from mandala have been released so far, both on ReverbNation. The first, Hope Is a Butterfly, No Net Its Captor, is available for streaming, and the second, Bring Our Children Home or Everything is Nothing, can be downloaded for free!

I can’t really see much topping …And The Battle Begun. The undisclosed leave of Rx Bandits’ trombonist, Chris Sheets, doesn’t help. The trombone was one of the most outstanding instruments on most recent previous albums and at live shows I have attended. I can’t suggest …And The Battle Begun more to anyone interested in getting into these guys.

Sample some of their amazing work in the player above. You’ll need to have a ReverbNation account and log in to it to listen to the new song (first on the playlist), but it’s free and well worth it.
And listen to the Bring Our Children Home Or Everything Is Nothing and download it right here: http://www.myspace.com/windows?homepage=rxbandits (No need to log in or anything).
